Experience Traditional Hawaiian Outrigger Canoe Rides
CANOE SURFING: THE SPORT OF HAWAIIAN ROYALTY
Canoe surfing was born in Hawaiʻi and was once enjoyed exclusively by the aliʻi, or, Hawaiian royalty. Today, Waikīkī remains one of the few places in the world where guests can experience this traditional sport.
Led by experienced Waikīkī Beachboys, your crew will paddle offshore before turning toward the beach and surfing Waikīkī’s rolling waves back to shore. Guests ages five and older, including non-swimmers, may participate, making canoe surfing a memorable experience for families and groups.
Choose from either a canoe surfing experience or canoe charter experience.
Same-day availability may also be offered at our beach desk. Please ask our team about joining the waitlist.
**Safety is our utmost priority; please note that varying weather and/or surf conditions may influence our staff to reduce the passenger load per canoe.

We love having young surfers out with us! For every guest under 18:
- A parent or legal guardian signs the waiver online before your lesson
- A parent, guardian, or adult chaperone (18+) checks them in at our desk
- That same adult stays on the beach, where they can see them, for the whole lesson
- That same adult meets them at the end to pick them up
This keeps everyone safe and lets our instructors focus on the fun. Mahalo for helping us out!

Please note that beginning January 1, 2024, a $1 fee will be collected for each surf, SUP, or canoe ride participant. This fee is for the OSF, or Ocean Stewardship Fund, created by the State of Hawaiʻi and enforced by the Department of Land and Natural Resources. Read more about it in our FAQs section or on the DLNR website.
