Meet the Beachboys: Beyond the Beach

By Emma Susas

Sure, our beachboys can surf, paddle, and keep the vibes going from sunrise to sunset—but what happens when they hang up the boards? It turns out there’s a lot more to these guys than just wave-catching. From fishing lines to guitar strings, here’s a look at the hidden talents that make our crew who they are.

The Artist: Aaron
Aaron grew up surrounded by art, with both parents being artists, so it’s no surprise he’s one too. Every piece he creates tells a story—a person, a place, a moment—drawing from his experiences at the beach and daily life. His artwork is like a journal, capturing memories one image at a time.

The Watermen:

Blaise — The Fisherman
Blaise has been fishing since he was 5 with his grandpa. What started as a fun pastime has turned into a love for cooking his catches in all kinds of ways. For Blaise, fishing isn’t just about the catch—it’s about having fun, saving money, and enjoying the full journey from water to plate.

Daniel — The Shortboarder
Daniel, our lead photographer, started surfing at 12 with his dad in Orange County. Growing up playing sports competitively, he discovered shortboarding later and quickly fell in love. Now a 3x HSA state champion at Ala Moana Bowls, Daniel’s journey is proof that it’s never too late to chase your passion.

Logan — The Longboarder
Logan has been surfing for 7 years and competing for the last 3, though he’s been skimboarding his whole life. Always pushing himself to improve, he loves the chance to surf empty lineups with friends.

The Musicians:

Keola
Keola has been working the beaches for 20 years and has been a surf instructor with us for 2. He started guitar at 9 and a year later added ukulele—all self-taught. Playing and sharing music with friends has always been his thing. For Keola, music is a way to express himself and escape, taking him to another place.

Koa
Koa has been strumming guitar since first grade. When COVID hit, he dove into slack-key guitar, which quickly became a favorite. Music has always been central to his life—jamming with family and friends, and letting the right song transport him anywhere.

Emma
When our Marketing Coordinator isn’t filming or editing, she’s making music. Growing up in a big Filipino family, singing and playing instruments was just part of life. Music has always been her constant, a way to express herself and feel at home.

More Than Beachboys
What we love most about this crew is that their passions extend beyond the waves. Whether it’s art, music, or just sharing skills with friends, they bring heart and creativity into everything they do.
