A Day Sailing with Kepoikai Catamaran

Some of the Waikīkī Beach Services office team recently had the opportunity to experience a sail with Kepoikai Catamaran, and it was the perfect way to spend an afternoon on the water. Conveniently located right in front of The Royal Hawaiian—where our Waikīkī Beach Services desk is—Kepoikai offers an easy way to step off the sand and onto a beautiful catamaran for a relaxing ocean adventure.
Whale Watching Hopes
A few of our office girls hopped aboard, hoping to catch a glimpse of whales, since it’s still the tail end of whale season in Hawaiʻi. While the whales stayed elusive this time, the sail itself was unforgettable. With great music playing and a variety of refreshing beverage options available, the atmosphere on board was relaxed, fun, and full of aloha.
Views of Diamond Head from the Water
During the one-hour sail, we enjoyed incredible views of Diamond Head from the water—one of the most iconic sights along the Waikīkī coastline. Some guests even tried their luck fishing off the back of the boat and nearly reeled one in, adding a little extra excitement to the trip.
Into the Splash Zone
As we sailed farther out, a few of us made our way to the front of the catamaran with other guests and embraced the “splash zone.” Once we hit the choppier water, the waves sprayed across the bow, making for a refreshing and playful moment that had everyone laughing.
A Crew Full of Aloha
The crew made the experience even better. They were incredibly friendly, attentive, and happy to share their knowledge of the ocean and the sailing traditions of Waikīkī. One of the highlights was getting the chance to blow the conch shell as we approached the shore again—a traditional signal used to alert swimmers that the catamaran is returning to the beach.
A Waikīkī Experience Worth Trying
