Learn to Paddle Board on this incredible “Hana Wiwo’ole” (Adventure) at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel Waikīkī
Hana Wiwoʻole! (Adventure!) Looking for a fresh and exciting way to explore Waikīkī’s waters? Stand-up paddling offers a fun, scenic, and accessible ocean experience perfect for first-timers and water lovers alike.
Designed for groups of two guests (ages 13+), this beginner lesson covers proper stance, balance, paddling technique, and turning — all in Waikīkī’s calm, protected waters. As you glide over the reef, you may even spot a honu swimming below.
All lessons are led by our licensed Waikīkī Beachboys, who are lifeguard and CPR certified and meet rigorous state and company standards.

SUP lessons are conducted daily at:

2:30 pm – by special request only -
- All Surf and SUP lesson participants must be able to swim.
- You must be at least 13 years old.
- Kids under 13 must take a private ONE-ON-ONE surf lesson for safety reasons.
- Lessons are 1 hour and 15 minutes long (15 minutes of safety briefings on land).
- SUP lesson equipment is provided, including the use of a rash guard.
- Photos will be taken during the lesson and are available for purchase. (*There may be certain instances where photos are unavailable due to forces outside our control. Photographers will try to get at least ten water shots of each participant during a lesson or canoe ride).
- Our surf instructors must pass rigorous licensing requirements and are trained in CPR and other life-saving techniques.
- Pregnant women or guests with prior neck or back injuries should not take SURF / SUP lessons.

Please note that beginning January 1, 2024 a $1 fee will be collected for each surf, SUP or canoe ride participant. This fee is for the OSF, or Ocean Stewardship Fund, a fund created by the State of Hawaiʻi and enforced by the Department of Land and Natural Resources.
